As reported by XDA Developers, Google’s feature called Nearby Sharing functions as a feature that makes it possible to share photos or other files with nearby devices, even those not registered in the contact, such as AirDrop. The trial video released by XDA also shows that the feature can find the nearest device and transfer images in seconds. Like AirDrop, Nearby Sharing seems to have a number of privacy settings, such as hidden mode to limit who can send files. So far, the feature is reported to have been available on Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 4 devices. Not only on Google smartphones, Nearby Sharing is also reportedly present in OnePlus 7T Pro. This suggests that the feature is potentially available on all or most smartphones that support Google Play and even devices with Chrome OS.
