Common Problems That Affects Youtube
Despite Google’s commendable efforts to keep YouTube up and running, there are a few hitches that can interrupt your service. The most common problem is “Videos not playing”. This can be a real pain, especially for the regular users of the platform. If you’re having trouble accessing and playing videos on YouTube, here are some fixes to the YouTube common issues. These fixes are for Android Phone users though.
Fixes for YouTube Common Errors On Android devices
1. Restart your device
This is the number one and most popular fix for various smartphone-related problems and YouTube errors are an exception. Restarting your phone closes apps running in the background, among other things, which might be causing the issues you’re having. This is an easy fix that takes around a minute. Simply hold down the power key on your device, tap the restart option that appears on the screen. After the finish rebooting i.e turns back on, open the YouTube app and check if the problem is gone.
2. Check your internet connection
The common reason why videos may not play on YouTube is a bad internet connection. So, if you see YouTube not working, the first thing you should do is check to see whether you are connected to the internet or not. If you are, then I will advise you move to an area with more coverage. If you are on a Wifi network and Youtube is the only part of the internet giving you trouble, search Google for the various solution to WiFi related issues on smartphones. But note that if you are able to perform other Internet-related tasks except visiting YouTube, the connection is not the problem.
3. System Update
There is a small chance that updating your phone’s Android version could be the solution to YouTube not working. The error may have come from using an outdated version of your phone’s operating system. To do this, go to settings on your device, select “System updates”, and download the update if available. Depending on your device, the “System updates” might be located under the “About phone” option down below the settings list. Once the update has been downloaded, install and let your device reboot. Then open YouTube and check if the problem persists.
4. Clear the app’s data and Cache
Clearing cache deletes temporary data while clearing app’s data gets rid of all app’s data, including various settings. Go to the settings menu on your device, tap on “Apps”, and select YouTube. Select “Storage”, which will bring up two options: Clear data and Clear cache. Clear the cache first and check if YouTube now works as it should. If not, go back and clear data. Check to see if the problem is solved.
5. Check your date and time settings
As strange as it may sound, the date and time settings could be the reason for your YouTube issues. Google’s servers might be finding it difficult syncing with them if they are wrong. To correct this, open the settings area of your device, tap on “Date & time”, and make sure the “Automatic date & time” option is turned on. if the problem still persists, then check out the next option.
6. Update the YouTube app
Now, If YouTube is still not working, the last thing you can do is to update the Youtube app on your Device. To check if an update is available, open the Google Play Store app, go to “My apps & games” and check if YouTube is on the “Updates” list. If it is, just tap the “Update” button and wait for sometime till the update is completed. After that’s done, launch the YouTube app to check if everything is ok now.
